Padmanabhan .A.K

Mr. A.K Padmanabhan is a veteran Communist Party leader who is very active in CITU. He came to Chennai in 1962 and worked with Ashok Leyland between 1963 and 1972. He was in politics since 1964 (CPI –M) and was dismissed from service for his trade union activities with CITU which he started in 1970. In the year 1972, he became the Secretary of CITU, Madras and in 1982 was made the Treasurer of Tamil Nadu State Committee. In 1984; he became the State Asst. General Secretary of Tamil Nadu (CITU). Later, in 1988 he became the State Secretariat Member of CPM and in 1989 was elected as All India Secretary. From 2005 onwards he is the Central Committee Member and now continues as National Secretary of CITU. He is an excellent writer who has been contributing politically oriented articles in Deshabhimani and People Democracy (national mouthpiece of CPI-M). He is a native of Pappinissery, Kannur district. His wife is Mrs. P Usha Devi who is an office staff with Kerala Vidyalaya School. He has two children – T. Manoj Kumar who is an Advocate in the High Court in Chennai and Mrs. P. Sumitha.
