Elizabeth Verghese

Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese a Civil Engineer by profession is the Chancellor of Hindustan University. She has been working in the field of education for quite some time now. She was the Chairperson of Hindustan Group of Institutions in Chennai till recently and became the Chancellor following the conversion of the group of institutions into a University reently. She is recipient of the Tamilnadu Government’s prestigious ‘Anna Award’ for meritorious service and ‘Eminent Engineer Award 2006’ from Highways Department. The Hindustan College of Engineering under her Chairpersonship has won the Gurukul Jyoti ‘Award for Excellence in Education’ in the Category of Engineering in 2006. Hailing from Arattupuzha, Chengannur in Alleppy District, she is born to late Dr.T.G. Chacko, Thundiyil House and Smt. Elizabeth Chacko. She is married to Dr. K.C.G. Verghese (late) ( then Chairman, Hindustan Group of Institutions) and the couple has two sons Anand Jacob Verghese and Ashok Verghese and a daughter Dr. Susan Marthandan. She was also Chairperson of institutions like Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology, Hindustan College of Engineering, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, KCG College of Technology, Orient Flight School, Pondicherry and KCG Infotech Pvt. Ltd. until these institutions were brought under the control of the newly formed University.
