M.K.Kumar is a management specialist and CA who held key positions in some of the leading multinational companies. He has served as Chairman and Chief Executive at Best & Crompton Engineering Company. He was the first Indian to become an Assistant Manager in the Multinational ‘Pierce Leslie Company Ltd.’, London where he started his professional career. Hailing from Ottappalam in Palghat District he is married to Mrs. K. Lekshmi and the couple has two children Anand Kumar and Anitha. Mr. Kumar started his career with Pierce Leslie and after 10 years he joined Shaw Wallace Company Ltd. as Executive Director and then as Vice Chairman. Later he joined Best and Crompton as Chairman and Chief Executive. He again returned to Pierce Leslie as Member of UK Board and Chairman, Indian Companies. Kumar also held positions like National President -Indian society for Training and Development, Vice President – Asian Society for Training and Development, Chairman – Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President – Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM) and Founder President – Indo- Australian Chamber of Commerce. He was Director, ‘Master Share Fund’, Unit Trust of India and Member, Advisory Board, American Express Bank. He was Independent Director, Gillette India Ltd., Chemplast Sanmar Ltd. and Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation.
