Sree Kumar Varma
Mr Sree Kumar Varma is a prolific writer, specialised in writing and teaching.. He started his career as a Sub-Editor-cum Writer in Indian Express in 1978 and after two years, joined ‘Cinema Today’. He started ‘Cosmic Press in 1988 with two partners and continued till 1998. He was full time author and teacher in Chennai Mathematical Institute (Creative English) for quite some time. He also worked as a Columnist for Indian Express, The Hindu and Deccan Herald. At present, he is working as a Columnist for ‘The Times of India’. Hailing from Mavelikkara in Alappuzha district, he is born to Sri. K. K. Varma (Business), Kilimanoor Palace and Smt.Indira Varma, Mavelikkara Palace (First Graduate from Royal Family of Travancore) on 4th March 1955. He is married to Geetha Varma (Teacher) and the couple has two sons – Vinayak- working as Graphic Designer in ‘Bangalore Pages’ and Karthik – Sound Engineering-working in SAE, Chennai. As a novelist, poet, play wright & columnist, his major published works include “The Royal Rebel’. “ ‘Lament of Mohini’ and ‘Devil’s Garden’. His plays include ‘The Dark Lord’, ‘Bow of Rama’ and ‘Platform’. He was awarded the ‘Charles Wallace Fellowship’ for the year 2004 and was ‘Writer –in – Residence’ at ‘Stirling University’, Scotland. His novel ‘Mana’s Room was long listed for the inaugural ‘Man Asia Literary Price’ (2007).
