Mr. A.K. Gopalan is Presently Secretary of Asan Memorial Educational Institutions. In 1965, Mr.A.K.Gopalan along with a few eminent personalities of Madras city like late Ammu Swaminathan, Ex.M.P., Mr. M.P.Damodaran, Ex. MLA, Dr. K.M.George, P.M.Bhaskaran, Vayalar Rama Varma, Dr. S.K. Nair of Madras University etc. formed an association called Asan Memorial Association in memory of Mahakavi Kumaran Asan. He was elected General Secretary of the Association at the meeting. It is the relentless efforts by the Association under the able guidance of Mr.A.K.Gopalan, which resulted in the setting up of various institutions under the auspices of Association.He is hailing from a Kuttanadan village, Thalavady in Alappuzha district. He is married to Smt. Rani Gopalan and the couple has two daughters-Nirmala and Syamala Jayaprakash (former Director, Asan Memorial School) and a son Kishor.
